Winter is coming!

It’s always a good idea to learn about what to do to prepare your home for the winter.

Here are some brilliant ideas from LifeHacker: How to properly De-Ice Your Home

Buy the right ice melting product for your driveway and walkways.

There are many other choices than plain rock salt depending on your concerns:

Eco-friendly, safe on concrete, gentle on landscaping, no residue, pet-friendly, non-corrosive, LEED compliant…etc.

  • Know how much ice melt you need.

Check the instructions for the specific product you buy.

Know how much area you need to cover, and how many times you will need to cover it.

  • Use the ice melt the right way

Pre-treat your walkway and driveways before it snows. Mix a little sand with ice melt can provide traction.

Remove snow before using ice melt.

  • Prevent and clear ice dam on your roof

Ice dams prevent water runoff from flowing to the ground below, they can tear off gutters, loosen shingles, and lead to leaks when snow melts.

Buy roof rakes or DIY Snow ripper to clear the snow off rooftop after each snowstorm.

It’s show time in Vegas: ISSA / INTERCLEAN 2017

XYNYTH is exhibiting at the ISSA/INTERCLEAN trade show in Las Vegas, this September 12th to 14th. This is the largest and most important Commercial show of the year for our team. We will be at Booth# 2055, featuring our well-known product Mountain Organic Natural™ Icemelter and Arctic ECO Green® Icemelter, as well as Winter Warrior Enviro LEADer™ Icemelter and Arctic CLEAR Window & Mirror De-icer™. We would love to meet you there!

Liquefying icemelters

A very common question we get asked is: “Which of our icemelters can be liquefied?”

All of Winter Warrior icemelters (which includesWinter Warrior Enviro LEADer™ Icemelter, Winter Warrior Runway Control® and Winter Warrior CMA™ Icemelter can be converted to a liquid quite easily.

Simply dilute 25% product into 75% water.

Our Calcium Chloride can also be liquefied for those  who want a cheaper, non-eco-friendly alternative. The details on how to liquefy our Calcium Chloride are available on our website.

Icemelt & Concrete

A question commonly asked is what are the effects of icemelt on concrete?

Icemelters which contain aluminum chloride, ammonium sulfate, calcium sulfate, magnesium chloride (MAG), ammonium nitrate, ammonium chloride, magnesium sulfate or sodium cyanide, will attack concrete and are best avoided. Additionally chemicals like calcium chloride will shorten the natural freeze/thaw cycle in concrete, greatly increasing the risk of scaling and flaking damage. Using an icemelter like GroundWorks Natural Icemelter™, keeps the melted ice in a liquid state for a much longer period of time and thereby extends the freeze/thaw cycle reducing the risk of scaling and flaking damage. Additionally GroundWorks Natural Icemelter™ contains no chemicals which would affect the concrete in any way.

For more information on the effects of icemelt on concrete please refer to the Icemelter & Concrete article in the Icemelter resource center on www.XYNYTH.com.

Closed for BC Family Day !

Our Head Office will be closed on Monday, February 13th for BC Family Day.

Family Day was originally created to give people time to spend with their families but it also provides a day off between New Year’s Day and Good Friday as they are approximately three months apart. Family Day is not a National Statutory Holiday, it is only observed in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan and in British Columbia. Family Day is celebrated on the 3rd Monday of February except in BC where it’s the 2nd Monday of February.

Common Family Day activities include skating, playing hockey, snowboarding, skiing and going to various winter festivals.

We have PLEEEEEEENTY of stock

As many of you already know we were hit by an extended period of snow and ice on the West Coast of Canada.

During this time many of our competitors failed to keep up with the demand, which resulted in lead times ranging in the weeks and sometimes months.

However, we were able to ensure all of our customers received their icemelter and were also able to secure many new customers as well. You can be rest assured that all our warehouses will remain well stocked throughout the winter, no matter the weather conditions.

Safe for Pets? … You Bet!

Lucy and Snoopy are totally safe with GroundWorks Natural Icemelter™. It is completely safe for use around children and pets. It is one of the safest icemelters on the market. So when the safety of the four-legged members of your family counts, choose GroundWorks™. Ask for it at your local retailer today, or go to http://xynyth.com/products-tabs/GNI/groundworks-natural.html for more information.

We are truly honored and thankful to be able to work with each of you and hope that this holiday season is a special one. May it be filled with great joy and long lasting memories. Happy Holidays!

SNOW MAGAZINE HEADLINE

Recently, The Snow Removal Service Liability Limitation Act was signed into law in Illinois.

What does this mean?
The Snow Magazine (http://www.snowmagazineonline.com/…/illinois-legislative-a…/)
says that “This law now makes indemnification agreements and hold-harmless language passing liability from the property owner or property managers to the contractor, null and void in Illinois”. Additionally, the ASCA (Accredited Snow Contractors Association) has succeeded in getting its Bill introduced in Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Indiana. The Snow Industry highlights the importance of property owners hiring
qualified snow contractors who actually document their services and also using high quality icemelters, such as XYNYTH’s safe, powerful and environmentally friendly product line.
