Icemelt & Concrete

A question commonly asked is what are the effects of icemelt on concrete?

Icemelters which contain aluminum chloride, ammonium sulfate, calcium sulfate, magnesium chloride (MAG), ammonium nitrate, ammonium chloride, magnesium sulfate or sodium cyanide, will attack concrete and are best avoided. Additionally chemicals like calcium chloride will shorten the natural freeze/thaw cycle in concrete, greatly increasing the risk of scaling and flaking damage. Using an icemelter like GroundWorks Natural Icemelter™, keeps the melted ice in a liquid state for a much longer period of time and thereby extends the freeze/thaw cycle reducing the risk of scaling and flaking damage. Additionally GroundWorks Natural Icemelter™ contains no chemicals which would affect the concrete in any way.

Closed for BC Family Day !

Our Head Office will be closed on Monday, February 13th for BC Family Day.

Family Day was originally created to give people time to spend with their families but it also provides a day off between New Year’s Day and Good Friday as they are approximately three months apart. Family Day is not a National Statutory Holiday, it is only observed in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan and in British Columbia. Family Day is celebrated on the 3rd Monday of February except in BC where it’s the 2nd Monday of February.

Common Family Day activities include skating, playing hockey, snowboarding, skiing and going to various winter festivals.

We have PLEEEEEEENTY of stock

As many of you already know we were hit by an extended period of snow and ice on the West Coast of Canada.

During this time many of our competitors failed to keep up with the demand, which resulted in lead times ranging in the weeks and sometimes months.

However, we were able to ensure all of our customers received their icemelter and were also able to secure many new customers as well. You can be rest assured that all our warehouses will remain well stocked throughout the winter, no matter the weather conditions.

Honoring Remembrance Day

XYNYTH Honors Remembrance Day.

Our Office will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11th, for Remembrance Day. All orders will be processed on Monday, Nov. 14th.

Canadians recognize Remembrance Day  (Veterans Day in the United States), as an opportunity to recall all those brave men and women who have served in the nation’s defense. Many people wear poppies before and on Remembrance Day to show their respect and support for Canadian troops.

HAPPY CANADIAN THANKSGIVING !

XYNYTH Manufacturing will be closed on Monday, Oct. 10, for Thanksgiving (Canada). All orders will be processed on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

SNOW MAGAZINE HEADLINE

Recently, The Snow Removal Service Liability Limitation Act was signed into law in Illinois.

What does this mean?
The Snow Magazine (http://www.snowmagazineonline.com/…/illinois-legislative-a…/)
says that “This law now makes indemnification agreements and hold-harmless language passing liability from the property owner or property managers to the contractor, null and void in Illinois”. Additionally, the ASCA (Accredited Snow Contractors Association) has succeeded in getting its Bill introduced in Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Indiana. The Snow Industry highlights the importance of property owners hiring
qualified snow contractors who actually document their services and also using high quality icemelters, such as XYNYTH’s safe, powerful and environmentally friendly product line.
