Is your icemelter safe around your pets?
The two main issues to be concerned about with respect to the choice of icemelter used around pets are, will the icemelter affect their paws, eyes, nose, and what if your pets licks their paws after they have walked upon the icemelter. So why choose GroundWorks Natural Icemelter ™, manufactured by XYNYTH Manufacturing? Because GroundWorks™ is made from potash (potassium chloride) , a colorless crystalline solid or powder used widely in fertilizers and in the preparation of most potassium compounds, and is completely safe for use around children and pets.
GroundWorks Natural™ Icemelter is a premium fertilizer based product designed specifically to melt ice and snow effectively, while being completely eco-friendly, pet safe and easy to use.

Many have been asking how to best spread/apply icemelters?
Icemelters are best spread by using some mechanical means such as a spreader. Using a spreader guarantees even consistent distribution. While deicers can be spread manually using a scoop or by hand, it is not recommended. Spreaders are available in all sizes, from small hand held varieties to large dump truck attachments. Many users of ice melters like to have their product colored to make it easier for the person doing the spreading and to help over use of the product. Colored deicers can easily be seen by people, assuring them that it is safe to walk on the ice.

Did you know that the vast majority of national parks across Canada and the United States don’t use salt?
Salt attracts wild animals, which can create quite a nuisance for park goers. It can also have deadly ramifications if a harmful chemical like calcium chloride or magnesium chloride is present. An excellent alternative to salt is our Winter Warrior Enviro LEADer™ Icemelter.
It will not attract animals and affect the surrounding vegetation in any way. Enviro LEADer is also non-corrosive, so it won’t harm vehicles. To learn more about this product, please consult our website at XYNYTH.com.
A question we frequently get is “if Icemelter is safe to apply on new concrete?”
The answer is no, as newly poured concrete needs time to cure and settle. The application of icemelter on concrete less than 12 months old may weaken the concrete structure making it more susceptible to damage in the future.
In order to reduce slipping, falling and liability risks, we suggest applying sand on the new concrete slab to give it some traction.

GroundWorks Natural™ Icemelter is a pet-friendly icemelter, and it does not contain urea (sometimes listed as Carbonyl Diamide or Carbamide Resin), as Urea is very harmful to the environment even with very little amount.
Urea based ice melts are generally the ones labeled as safe for use around pets. However, with a practical working temperature of around -3.9°C / 25°F, urea is not a very effective ice melting product. Whereas GroundWorks will go down to – 23°C / -9°F, it melts the ice as much as it protects your pets’ paws.
Moreover, when urea washes off of driveways, it often ends up in the most nearby stream or river. Urea contains nitrogen and when released into the environment turns to ammonia, which can be quite toxic to aquatic life even in small amounts.
So when it comes to pet-safe icemelter, eco-friendly GroundWorks Natural™ Icemelter is your top choice!
